   The Other Side of Paradise

The Plight of Oahu's Leeward Coast Homeless
Just a few miles and several minutes north of the beautiful Ko Olina Resort on Oahu's Leeward Coast you will find the other side of paradise. There, on sixteen miles of land, and the Waianae Mountains, you'll find the tents, wooden containers, vans and simple overhangs that are the residences of many of Oahu's homeless population which, by some estimates, numbers over 4,000.                          Picture Gallery

At first glance it's easy to disparage these people as bums , deadbeats, drug addicts and the like, but this is a disservice to a large number of these folks. While many of these homeless are indeed jobless and current or former addicts, a closer look shows that many are also respectable people and often entire families whose only "crime" is that they cannot afford a place to live. The people are left with no option but to live on the beach

We are wanting to let them know that there is a option, the Lord Jesus Christ, and in Him there is abundant life and new beginnings. Amen!

We want to continue reaching the homeless children with “Our Puppet Ministries” We are needing adult size, larger puppets, Bible families, Missionaries Kids and animal puppets. We could use your help in getting these Puppets.

To this day, we have been given $350 towards our 4 man portable puppet stage, and $200 towards puppets.   If you feel led to help with these costs, send your gifts to our sending church or BBFI clearly marked for our puppet ministry.  Both addresses can be found on our Contact Us page.

Housing Costs on Oahu
The median cost of a single family home on Oahu, as of the third quarter 2006, was $635,000.

This is where God has placed us in serving Him. May the Lord use us for His Glory.
